Caorle an ancient fishermen village, now a tourism hub.
Fishermen who lived thanks to the sweat of their brow and supported by the products of the sea and the lagoon. Upon the tourism came, a transformation occurred for inhabitants’ lifestyle and habits; however, the memory of the ancient fishing tradition remains vivid thanks to some appointments. Among these appointments, we remember the Feast of Fish which will be held at Sacheta Beach, an amazing inlet just few steps away from Madonna dell’Angelo Sanctuary, during the days of September 13th-14th-15th-21st-22nd. At disposal of the guests and tourists many tables on which tasting several qualities of fresh fish of the Adriatic Sea, while listening the waves breaking on the shore. Among the traditional food specialties: Sardee in grea (grilled sardines) a typical dish of Caorle and fried fish but even many others delicacies. The event location has been decorated using scenic lighting and with the reconstruction of Casone (a typical canes’ hut) used by fishermen that are engaged in lagoon fishing. Friday 13th and Saturday 14th and 21st the kitchen will be open from 6.30pm, while on Sunday 15th and 22nd it is possible to have lunch and the kitchen opens at 11am up to 2.30pm. The inaugural evening shall be accompanied by a series of collateral events such as “I giochi di una volta” (traditional toys) or “La gara del bisato”, in which the contestant has to grab an eel using his mouth. Sunday 15th of September at 11.30am the “Caorlina Grande Città di Caorle” with its 22nd rowers sets sail from the fishing port to the inlet of the Madonna dell’Angelo Sanctuary greeting the audience with an Alzaremi (seafaring greeting).
